Fertility Issues: Study suggests that Older Men Tend to Father Children with Autism

Fertility Issues: Study suggests that Older Men Tend to Father Children with Autism

The results of this research conducted by Abraham Reichenberg, researcher at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York tend to show what lay people and scientists have suspected for a long time now. Older men who may have injured genes and other health issues may still father children, but these children may suffer from developmental issues such as autism. Now do the results of this study cast some doubt on the century-old lifestyle of older men vs. young women relationship? Men who have always been in a position of power have always searched for opportunities to increase their chance to have offspring. In patriarchal societies, men dictate the rules.
What happens to women and men's relationships in matriarchal societies? What do they go by?

Any way, scientists are taking some deep interest in older gentlemen who want to become fathers in their 40s and 50s and the incidence of an epidemic known as autism. Dr. Reichenberg led the research that involved about 130,000 Israeli Jews born in the 1980s. Those fathered by older men were almost six times more likely to have autism or related disorders than those fathered by men younger than 30, and more than 1 1/2 times more likely than children fathered by men ages 30-39. What is interesting to note is that the mothers' age at childbirth appeared to have little impact on autism. Well, the scientists could not rule out a possible small effect from the oldest mothers. What does this mean to any society where older men, usually more stable economically and more entrenched in power, seem to call the shots?

If the results of this study are holding, they show that places with high prevalence of autism may have this type of older men vs. young women relationship. Could it also touch into the lifestyle of some highly accomplished people who want to delay child bearing time to later years because they want to pursue some professional and/or career goals? Having children at a later year may become hazardous to the children and mother's life. What is up with father's age? Apparently, father's age has been an accomplice or a culprit in other cases. Other studies have shown that sperm mutate more often in older men, potentially leading to increased risk for brain abnormalities in their children. What are some of the causes of autism? The research also points out that genes may be a cause of autism. That's according to a good theory.

IVF or In Vitro Fertilization Techniques

If you want to try IVF or in vitro fertilization, just know this. If you do not get pregnant, you should get your money back. If a specialist can not guarantee this much to you, it may be time to look else. California is a good place to look at. http://shopnowshop.com/fertilitygold , Fertility clinics in California drive the new tourism to the Golden state. In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to improve your chance at getting pregnant.

Most reproductive specialists recommend these steps. Go ahead, give it a try.

"Fertility drugs: If your hormones are out of balance or in short supply, these drugs (for women and men) can get your reproductive system back on track. They might even help if the cause of your fertility problem is nknown. And you can take them in conjunction with another treatment such as artificial insemination.

Artificial insemination
If your partner's sperm just need help getting to your egg, placing a concentrated dose of sperm in your uterus will improve your odds of getting pregnant.

Surgery

If you have blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, fibroids, genetic defects, or ovarian cysts, a type of minor surgery performed with a fiber-thin tube (called a laparoscope) can help clear the way for you to conceive. Surgery can also be more extensive and require an incision in your abdomen.

Assisted reproductive technologies (ART)If your partner has a low sperm count or if you have ovulation problems or blocked fallopian tubes, a hi-tech ART procedure (such as IVF, GIFT, ZIFT, or ICSI) can help you make a baby. Otherwise, you might consider using an egg donor or a gestational carrier (otherwise known as a surrogate mother), depending on the cause of your fertility problem."

Baby Shiloh: A New Brangelina

It is now an official story.  Katie Couric is leaving NBC at the end of May for the green stations of CBS News & 60 Minutes.  She is joining a great network with a great tradition.  But at the same time, CBS is acquiring a heck of  a workaholic for its news division.  Katie is a great worker, a trailblazing of a woman.  Hey, it is time that we say congratulations to her.  She or her agents held their ground and found something worth moving to.

Katie Couric made the announcement this morning on NBC.  The crew showed her in a 172-year hair style sitting close to Bryant Grumble who had previously left for CBS.  Then, soon after the clip, her sidekick on the Today Show, Matt Lauer, introduced her breaking news.  Katie said the following:

"I wanted to tell all of you out there who have watched the show for the past 15 years that after listening to my heart and my gut _ two things that have served me pretty well in the past _ I've decided I'll be leaving 'Today' at the end of May," she said. "I really feel as if we've become friends through the years."

"Sometimes I think change is a good thing," Couric said. "Although it may be terrifying to get out of your comfort zone, it's also very exciting to start a new chapter in your life."

"It's hard to imagine being here and not having you sitting next to us," co-host Matt Lauer told her.

Between now and then, NBC has the opportunity to be grateful to her.  Good job for Katie Couric.  She was featured on the Washington Post's papers.

Saving for Hospital Care: Those Who Become Landlords Are Saving

One key to managing rental property successfully is choosing the right tenants, said Janet Portman, an attorney, author of "Every Landlord's Guide to Finding Great Tenants" and a managing editor at legal publisher Nolo.

Often, that decision goes dreadfully wrong. "Landlords who don't screen carefully end up with poor tenants," Portman said. "When they have to evict...they almost always come out on the losing end financially.

That's because evictions often drag on for a long time, she said. Plus, "to rub salt in the wound, if the tenants want to take revenge and trash your property, then you've really been burnt -- and that happens all the time."

Some 2.3 million homes were bought as investment properties in 2005, up from 1.6 million in 2003, according to the National Association of Realtors. About 80% of those homes were bought as a source of rental income, according to NAR's survey data.

So, how to go about finding a good tenant? Weed out renters who are likely to be less than reliable. Consider the following three warning signs, Portman said.
